Dr Reginald Liew

Full Description

Dr Reginald Liew practices at Harley Street Clinic (Address below). He is a general cardiologist with a special interest in heart rhythm disturbances (arrhythmias) and their treatment with invasive procedures (catheter ablation) and device implantation. He is fully trained in all forms of invasive EP procedures, including catheter ablation using conventional and 3D- mapping systems. He is also fully trained in cardiac device implantation, including cardiac pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD) and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices.

He studied medicine at Cambridge University, UK, and London University (Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Medical and Dental School) obtaining his Bachelor (BA) and Master (MA) degrees in 1994 and 1996, respectively, and medical degree (MBBS Hons) in 1997. He completed his PhD at Imperial College London in 2004.

Dr Liew underwent his general cardiology training at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London UK, and subspecialty training in cardiac electrophysiology (EP) in two of the highest volume arrhythmia centres in the UK, St Bartholomew’s Hospital and St George’s Hospital. There, he honed his skills in performing EP procedures and catheter ablation using conventional and 3D-mapping systems. He is fully trained in device implantation for the management of cardiac arrhythmias, including cardiac pacemakers, implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICD) and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices.

Dr Liew’s research interests include atrial fibrillation, sudden cardiac death and the use of stem cells in cardiovascular disease. He has more than 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals to his credit. He is currently the Associate Editor for Heart, a leading international cardiology journal and the ASEAN Heart Journal. He is also a regular reviewer for many international clinical and basic science journals. In the academic arena, in his capacity as assistant professor at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School he teaches medical students and organizes the cardiovascular component of the first year normal body course. He is a member of the research committee for the Singapore Heart Foundation and the basic science committee for the Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society (APHRS).
